Why little jobs become big bills

The best order to tackle your list
First, anything involving water. Leaking taps, running toilets, drips under sinks and failed shower seals. Water damage compounds daily and invites mould, so these jump the queue every time.
Second, security and safety. Doors that will not lock, broken window latches, loose handrails, dead smoke alarms. If it keeps your family safe or your house secure, it comes next.
Third, the things getting worse. Peeling paint that is exposing timber, cracked grout, the sticking door, the wobbly stair tread. These are all cheaper now than in six months.
